A comprehensive eye exam includes:
- A thorough review of your medical history and medications.
- Visual acuity testing and refraction, including using the Epic Refracting System.
- Neurological assessment of pupils, ocular motility and visual fields.
- Dilated retinal examination, with careful attention paid to any signs of macular degeneration or systemic disease, such as hypertension or diabetes. Sometimes one of the places both hypertension and diabetes can show up is in the retina.
