Cirrus HD OCT is a highly advanced scanning system found at our office in Fort Lauderdale that can help in the diagnosis of a wide range of vision problems. It produces highly detailed images of the retina, the innermost layer of the interior of the eye, and it is the first and only instrument that can “see” below the surface of the retina to examine the retinal layers. Being able to clearly see the internal structures of the eye, not only helps detect the problems before they progress, but to monitor the effectiveness of treatments.
Manufactured by Carl Zeiss Meditec, Cirrus HD OCT never touches the eye, so there’s no discomfort. It is safe and requires only minutes to scan the eye.
It is a very powerful tool that helps us do more than ever before to protect patient’s vision, especially in vision threatening problems like:
- Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD)
- Detached retina
- Macular holes
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic Retinopathy
