Standard cataract surgery only eliminates the cataract. Standard IOL’s only correct for one distance or one refractive error. You may also have astigmatism. An astigmatic eye has an oval shape like a football, instead of being spherical, like a baseball. This causes blurry vision at all distances. A toric, or astigmatic IOL, is shaped to offset this oval shape.
Should you elect to use this Premium IOL, the cataract surgeon will remove the cataract that clouds your vision and implant the AcrySof Toric intraocular lens to reduce the astigmatism distorting your vision and thus your dependency on glasses.
